*Michael looks around the shop as he steps through the door for the first time.

As he approaches the counter, he notices that the proprietor isn't human. A large, one-eyed, grotesquely deformed goblin waited with uncharacteristic patience for Michael's order. Michael pretends not to notice and orders a cup of fruit-flavored herbal tea. Then he picks a seat at one of the tables.

Goblins didn't bother him much. If he had waited too long for his tea . . . well, that would have been a problem. Fortunately, the goblin is just as competent with his work as he is patient.

Both traits are at least a little bit unusual for goblins, but Michael didn't give it second thought.

Besides, the atmosphere in this shop is kind of homey, he thinks as he sips his tea.*
