I enjoyed this movie. The action scenes were best when the were designed to be humorous.
Unfortunately, the movie's tension spiraled low when it became apparent that the main character suffered little tension from the immediate events of his life. Since he knew what the immediate future would bring, even to the point of being able to avoid high-powered rifle shots the moment the bullet was fired, life could get boring for him.
Seeing how his gift worked, how Nicolas Cage's character saw the future two minutes in advance and acted on that to change the future, kept the movie interesting for its two-thirds.  Trying to pull of a blockbuster hollywood ending didn't work.
