Warped by K. W. JeterAlthough I do enjoy Star Trek, I don't really read that many of the novels. Of those I have read, only two stand out for me: Diane Duane's Spock's World and K. W. Jeter's Deep Space Nine novel, Warped.
I actually looked forward to reading Jeter's book because I read his first book, Dr. Adder, which was one of the weirdest books I've ever read - and I loved it. It was a story that pushed the limits of the genre and was ahead of its time. I had hoped that Warped would be in the same league, and it wasn't ... quite. It still had what I might think of as a distinctly "Jeter" flavor, though, and - next to Diane Duane's work - was written much better than quite a few Star Trek novels I've read otherwise. So ... although it wasn't quite what I'd expected, it was a very good book and worth reading.
