Prehistoric Americans seriesKathleen O'Neal Gear and W. Michael Gear's Prehistoric Americans is the very reason I added a Historical Fiction forum. Since much of the research that goes into these books is archeological, I am inclined to think of the series as something akin to science fiction. The stories also have a mystical element to them, which is not surprising but definitely a plus for me.
When I read People of the Wolf I couldn't put it down. Since then I've read People of the Owl and enjoyed it every bit as much as the first. However, I've noticed that the story dragged a lot and I'm having the same problem with People of the Silence now. On the other hand, I think the beautiful and tragic intensity of the narration and the breathtaking character development more than makes up for this and would highly recommend it to anyone.
