A Fun Fiction ExerciseI haven't noticed anything like this here at this forum, and if I missed it I apologize.
There is something I have found at other forums that is a lot of fun, so I thought it would be neat to start one here. It's where one person starts a story, and then other members continue it. So I am going to start a story called The Queen of Wands in this thread.
There are only two rules:
1.) You can only post one time in this thread.
2.) Your post can be no more than 300 words max.
Okay, have fun! Here it goes....
THE QUEEN OF WANDS
“Faerie glamour,” Susan murmurs. “That would be fun right now.” She moves to the next stack of women’s summer shirts and begins to straighten and fold, tidying that row and then the next, slowly moving down the length of the table.
Already midmorning and an August sun sizzles across the crowded parking lot at K-Mart. Susan slips her hand into the pocket of her employee smock and grabs a ballpoint pen. She moves to the end of the table, finds the price tag on the first shirt in that stack, and draws a red line through it. As she scribbles the new sale price, she feels a change in the energy flow of the store, a prickly, electrical buzz, causing her to shudder.
“I must be really bored,” she says, shrugging off the feeling, slowly working through the first stack of shirts on the table, and then moving to the next.
“Do all K-Mart employees talk to themselves?”
Susan jumps and turns to look at a slim man standing a few feet behind her, dressed in a golf shirt and black jeans. He absently runs his hand through shoulder-length, saffron hair.
He smiles, and his blue eyes emphasize a carefully cultivated tan. “Can you help me with something?” he asks, pulling her pentacle necklace from his pocket.
Susan rolls her eyes. Just what she needs. Another Psi-vamp to complicate her life. “Gee,” she mutters, “I guess this is going to be one of those days.”
“Could be.” He tucks the necklace back in his pocket. And his smile fades.
