~~A NEW NOVEL~~
Meet the Witches of Dixie. Savannah Monroe's life is sliding toward disaster no matter how hard she works or how many spells she casts. Maylene Whitmire thinks she is disappearing. Mirabella Middleton's successful art career begins to crumble in a flat economy, while Ravena Riley's husband sinks toward the angry depths of a midlife crisis. Four Southern Witches whose lives suddenly turn widdershins as they scramble to understand what's happening.
Almost every chapter in this award-winning novel contains a real spell, chant, or ritual. You'll also find information on feral cat rescue, holistic healing, perimenopause, how to shrink uterine fibroids naturally, magickal prosperity principles, and much, much more!
Several chapters from this novel won a Semi-Finalist Award in the Winnow Press Chapbook Award in Fiction competition. Another chapter won an Editor's Prize when it appeared in the literary journal Cezanne's Carrot where it was later nominated for a 2006 Pushcart Award.
This novel will be published by Trytium Publishing in Sept./Oct. 2007. I'll be posting ordering information as it becomes available.
~~REVIEWS~~
"THE WITCHES OF DIXIE is a magickal novel. Not only is the storyline of this book outstanding, but it is informative as well. I started reading this novel one morning and found that it was the only thing I wanted to do all day. The main characters in this novel could very easily be your neighbors, and by the time you finish reading the book, you feel as if you know them personally. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and know that it is a book that I will most certainly read again. As with everything else I have read by Stamps, this book is excellently written. The flow from line to line is smooth and appears almost carefree in its delivery. You will find this book easy to read and hard to put down." (Debra Harmes Kurth, Book Reviewer and Editor of Art With Words)
"In THE WITCHES OF DIXIE Laura Stamps brings to life four modern-day Witches, for which she includes some wonderful and magickal material entwined with her keen insight and ability to bring forth helpful information to women who may have certain health issues, such as fibroids and more. As you find yourself being drawn in by the undeniable beauty of Laura Stamps' words, the story becomes much more than fascinating but a valuable sourcebook. She includes some remarkable incantations and spells that are light with a focus that is positive and always enjoyable. THE WITCHES OF DIXIE also has a keen appeal towards cats that greatly shows the author's true spirituality and humanity." (Debra Higham, Book Reviewer and Editor of Keys of Knowledge)
“I'm pleased to highly recommend to any reader THE WITCHES OF DIXIE, a tale of four lives filled with self-awareness and the willingness to meet problems head on and overcome them. Enjoy. I certainly did.” (Anne K. Edwards, Book Reviewer and Editor of Voice in the Dark)
“Your magickal urban fantasy series is great. It’s about time someone published novels about real magickal people.” (Ali Vyain, Book Reviewer and Editor of Dark Side of the Moon)
"THE WITCHES OF DIXIE, by Laura Stamps, is a delightful and inspiring read. It follows a year in the lives of four Witches living in South Carolina. The reader watches as they overcome challenges in positive and life affirming ways. I enjoyed THE WITCHES OF DIXIE over many months, allowing myself time to set the book aside and reflect on the deeper implications of some of her spiritual inspirations, or savor the rich tapestry the author weaves. The beauty of her language is reason enough to read THE WITCHES OF DIXIE, but the real treasure is the message. I was constantly inspired, my spirit lifted, each time I read the book to discover more of the tangled beauty of both language and life, which proved to be a comfort to me during my months of duress (my life had taken a rather unexpected turn and become a regular roller coaster). I discovered so many gems in it, both narrative visuals and heartening inspirations, that I found much upon which to meditate. I would pick up the book and read a bit and find a passage that spoke to the turmoil through which I was passing and feel so blessed! Thank you so much for this read. ” (Cyndi Combs, Book Reviewer for Listen and Be Heard Weekly)
